Grammar Note

The Dictionary-form is the most basic form of a verb, used in dictionaries and casual speech. It is also the foundation for many intermediate grammar patterns.

⚫️ Group 1

Change the “-i” sound before -masu to the corresponding “-u” sound.

i ますu
– i masu → – u

⚫️ Group 2

Just remove “masu” and add “ru“.

ます
masu → ru

⚫️ Group 3
