Verb Volitional Form とおもっています
meaning : I’m going to do …
You intend to do something as a plan.
shigoto [o] yameyō [to] omotte-imasu.
( I’m going to quit a job. )
“Volitional Form とおもいます” is used when you decided to do at the same time you’re talking.
ima [kara] shukudai [o] shiyō [to] omotte-imasu.
( I’m going to do homework from now. )
When you talk about someone else’s “will”, you should say “… ようです・そうです・らしいです”.
kanojo [wa] atarashī kuruma [o] kaō [to] omotte-iru-yōdesu.
( She’s going to buy a new car. )

Verb Dictionary Form つもりです
meaning : I’m going to do …
It is used in the same meaning of “Volitional Form とおもっています”.
shigoto [o] yameru-tsumoridesu.
( I’m going to quit a job. )
However “Verb Dictionary Form つもりです” is used to say more specific plan. It will happen with high possibility.
watashi [wa] raishū fujisan [ni] noboru-tsumoridesu.
( I’m going to climb Mt.Fuji next week. )
When you talk about someone else’s “will”, you should say “… ようです・そうです・らしいです”, same as “Volitional Form とおもっています”.
kanojo [wa] atarashi-ku kuruma [o] kau-tsumori-no-yōdesu.
( She’s going to buy a new car. )
Verb Dictionary Form つもりです
Verb nai Form つもりです
meaning : I’m not going to do …
“nai Form つもりです” is a negative expression of “Dictionary Form つもりです”.
ashita [wa] tesuto [ga] aru-node, kyō [wa] nenai-tsumoridesu.
( I’m not going to sleep today, because I have an exam tomorrow. )
If you say “Verb Dictionary Form つもりはありません”, it sounds strong Negative expression.
kare [towa] mō au-tsumoriwa-arimasen.
( I’ll never meet him anymore. )
