meaning : A gives … to B.
Particle
に : indirect object marker
を : direct object marker
ichirō [wa] hanako [ni] purezento [o] age-mashita.
( Ichiro gave a present to Hanako. )
watashi [wa] hanako [ni] purezento [o] age-mashita.
( I gave a present to Hanako. )
“B” can not be “me” or “my family member”.
suzuki-san [wa] watashi [ni] purezento [o] age-mashita.
[NO] すずきさんは わたしの あねに プレゼントを あげました。
suzuki-san [wa] watashi [no] ane [ni] purezento [o] age-mashita.
⚫️ B は A に … を もらいます
meaning : B gets … from A.
It is the same fact as “A gives something to B”.
hanako [wa] ichirō [ni] purezento [o] moari-mashita.
( Hanako got a present from Ichiro. )
watashi [wa] jirō [ni] purezento [o] morai-mashita.
( I got a present from Jiro. )

A person who gets something is “me” or “my family member”.
hanako [wa] watashi [ni] purezento [o] kure-mashita.
( Hanako gave a present to me. )
tarō [wa] watashi [no] imōto [ni] purezento [o] kure-mashita.
( Taro gave a present to my sister. )
